As some of you may know, I have some very sad news to report today. Early on Tuesday morning, as some of my family members and friends were heading out from Fairview on a re-enactment trek, a truck couldn't see them because of the glare on his windshield and he hit them from behind. A 14 year old girl (a friend of our family) was killed and so was my dad. He was a wonderful father and had a place in many people's lives. You can see more about the story here.
Thank you for your concern. I will surely write more about him on a later post.

Janell,

My mom told me the news and I was heart broken. I am so sorry. Your dad was a great man and you are in our thoughts and prayers. Thanks to your dad my Grandma's voice ( Maree Ware) will forever be on Tape. Something I LOVE hearing every year.

Prayers and thoughts to your family

Altough I only met Montell once very briefly, I have heard so many stories from Kyle about the amazing man he is. He was described in Tribune as a "champion of the underdog, friend of the less fortunate and a simple farmer." What a legecy to leave behind!

I am so sorry for your loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I too am sorry for your loss. It was interesting listening to the news and learning a few things about him. I loved the story with the guy he met on a train 20 something years ago and your dad got him work, a place to live, and introduced him to the gospel. That was just one thing I heard of I'm sure many great things. I can't say I've ever done something that remarkable. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Janell,
I emailed you also, but I just wanted to let you know we are thinking of you guys and praying for you as well. We don't get tv and I just happened to get on ksl.com last night and saw the article. I vaguely remember him coming and talking to our ward in Logan about the pioneers once, but I knew it was him once I read about the accident. What a crazy summer you guys have had. I wish we were closer to help, but know we are thinking of you and your family. Take care

I hope you got my phone message. It's definitely a tender mercy for your dad to have died doing what he loves. The name Montell Seely is known all over for love of pioneers and generosity.
I remember hearing a story in church one time about a man and his son that stopped in Price Canyon and picked up a person hitch hiking. These people took them to their home and gave them a clean shower and food. It was truly a story of the Good Samaritan. I remember my dad leaning over to tell me he knew it was Montell. He knew that your dad was one of the most generous and open people he knew and he just knew it was something your dad would do without taking any thought for his own welfare or safety.
I have many good memories of your dad in those capacities. He was a good example of the Savior and I'm sure his reunion with Him was very sweet.
We are praying for your family. I wish we could be there on Saturday. We love you all and are thinking of you.

Janell,
Hi, it's Carrie Stilson. I just wanted to let you know that we are very sorry for your loss. You dad was a wonderful man. For our ward youth conference this year we went to the pageant. So many people from our ward were very anxious to meet your dad and after they did they couldn't stop talking about what a great man he was. He truely touched so many people during his lifetime. Please remember that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Janell,

This is Cammie (Peacock) Pollastro. I was shocked and sadded when I heard the news about your dad. He was a great man, and will be remembered for a rich legacy which he worked so hard to build. I will remember him filling up the ice skating pond for us as kids, letting us borrow ice skates and then letting us cut through your yard and farm to get to the pond. Those were some good times. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

I know that I am late in writing this, but I wanted to tell you that I am so sorry to hear about your dad. He was an amazing person and was well known throughout the community and state as a hard working person who was preserving the heritage and the history of the pioneers. I have always loved the Castle Valley Pageant and your family has impacted the community so greatly.

Again, I am so sorry to hear about that. He will be missed.
